The Boxer

The Boxer

I’m a boxer, I’ve always stood my ground
Indeed, I’ve never lost a match, as such
So, the very first time I went down
I didn’t think it hurt so much

You succeeded to make it happen twice
I didn’t realize I’d let down my guard
I mistook you for a second,
you didn’t need to hit me even hard

All of a sudden
a blast without a sound
now the square looks even bigger
I think I’m alright
and ready for the round
but I still see too many pictures …of you

I’m a boxer, I took so many blows – God only knows,
but you won’t stop, I know
till you see me on the mat, flat dead
well, you know, go ahead …my day’s better anyway

Given I’ve given, taken I’ve taken
I’m feeling tired now but won’t give in
till I’m dead or till I get the belt of king:
two ways only a boxer quits the ring!

All of a sudden
the whole world disappeared
or just crumbled over my head
I swear I’m striving
to get back on my feet
but I still see too many pictures …of you

Given I’ve given, taken I’ve taken
I’m feeling tired now but won’t give in
till I’m dead or till I get the belt of king:
two ways only a boxer quits the ring!

…till I’m dead or till I get the belt of king:
two ways only a boxer quits the ring!
